Thanks to all who’ve submitted topics
There are some crackers.
The organisers are meeting Wednesday evening and we should firm up the selected topics shortly after that (shooting for 48 hours later).
We’ll keep you posted.
Deadline extension – Sunday 19th
Just a quick note to let potential speakers know we’ve extended the deadline for the submission of Proposed Speaker Topic Forms to Sunday, July19th. A number of people asked for more time and it seemed only fair to extend this to everyone.
If there was someone you thought might be interested in speaking – someone with something out of the ordinary to share – there’s still time. But Sunday is the deadline.
The form is very short, with only about a paragraph of graft, summarising the topic.
It’s all happening…
Things have been progressing nicely.
We’ve confirmed the date and venue -Thursday, August 20th at the Chauvel Cinema. We’re very excited (nice bar too).
The APG have been great sponsors.
Tom Voirol’s agreed to be our technical guru.
There’s still time if you’ve been sitting on the fence about either nominating someone or even putting yourself forward to speak. But you need to act quickly by filling out a Proposed Topic Speaker Form! Please complete it and send it back by Wednesday, July 15th.
We’ll update the site with other news. If you want to keep informed, you can also join the Facebook Interesting South group. We use that to push out updates on a sporadic (rather than deluginally spamic) basis. When tickets go on sale we’ll send out a message through the Facebook group.

Interesting South 2009 is brewing
We’re in the planning phase for the next Interesting South event. Venue and a firm date are to be determined (we’re thinking probably August, but it’s a moveable feast until we nail down the venue).
If you know of anyone out there who is engaging and passionate about a topic – someone who has a way of making you think differently – let us know!
If it’s someone you know (maybe yourself) send us a note with a little information about the topic and contact details. Edit – Better yet, fill out the Proposed Speaker Topic Form, here!
If you’re interested in roping in someone that you don’t know, don’t hold back. If you don’t have their contact details, we may be able to track them down. Just explain what is that interests you about them.
Topics are as diverse as the audience (have a look at past speakers for an idea of the range of things people have covered).
There will be 10 minute slots and 5 minute slots to speak. And some people who can’t be there will send in videos. The idea is to be informal and fast paced.
So if there’s something out there that you’d like to share, send us an email!
