Interesting South covers a wide variety of interesting, unexpected, original things.
Past events have served up a bumper crop of very different people, covering an eclectic range of thing - but all of whom were evangelical (in the non-ecclesiastical sense of the word) about something they care about.
The aim was to replicate the experience of clicking from one really good blog to another, ranging across sciences, arts, music, social and environmental issues and whatever else interests people.
It was an unconference conference, a 'theatre of ideas' – very informal, with a very “open source” approach. If there was a single shared quality between speakers and participants it was curiosity.
Interesting South operates on a not-for-profit basis, with the IS community, speakers and organisers pulling it together for the love of ideas.
The organisers for IS4 (i.e. "Interesting South 4") will be meeting over the next week or so to start the process of whittling down venues. It'll take some time, but once that's nailed, we'll have a date we can communicate.
You can also get info by joining the Facebook Interesting South group. We use it to get advice and suggestions from the IS community and (periodically) keep people informed of news as the event takes shape.
